MATCH PREVIEW: Shamrock Rovers vs St. Patrick's Athletic

Shamrock Rovers vs St. Patrick's Athletic

Tallaght Stadium

Friday 11th February

President's Cup

Shamrock Rovers host Tim Clancy's St. Patrick's Athletic in the League of Ireland annual curtain raiser - The President's Cup - this Friday evening in Tallaght Stadium.

For the first time since 2018, fans will be in attendance for the President's Cup final, with a record-breaking attendance expected in the Tallaght venue.

Speaking to ahead of the clash, Stephen Bradley is looking forward to getting into the thick of things after a positive pre-season schedule:

"We're really happy [with how pre-season has gone]. I think we've worked really hard for the last number of weeks and the games have gone well. We've come through them with only knocks and bumps which is always a positive in pre-season. So, we're really happy and ready to go", the Hoops manager said speaking to the club's media team ahead of the clash.

Bradley is delighted with how his squad is looking ahead of his sixth season at the helm of Rovers, stating how he's "really happy with Jack [Byrne] and Andy [Lyons] adding to what we already have, and it shows that we're happy with the group as a whole. We like how competitive the squad is and we feel it's strong across the board".

Rovers are looking to win the President's Cup for the first time, after falling to a penalty-shootout defeat to Dundalk in the fixture last season, with the 2020 contest postponed due to heavy snowfall on the morning of the game that Rovers and Dundalk were due to play in Oriel Park - but was never rescheduled.

TEAM NEWS: Speaking ahead of the clash, Bradley confirmed that he will be without the services of Aaron Greene and Andy Lyons for the season opener. Both players picked up knocks last week against Bray Wanderers & Galway United, and Bradley has said neither injury is serious and they'll be fit for our SSE Airtricity League Premier Division opening game against UCD next Friday.

Sean Kavanagh has yet to feature in pre-season, so it is unlikely that he will be involved in the clash tomorrow against the Inchicore outfit.

COVERAGE: The game will be broadcast live on from 7:45pm in Tallaght tomorrow, free of charge. You must register with the site in order to watch the game.
