Shamrock Rovers vs Shelbourne FC

Friday, 27th May

SSE Airtricity League Premier Division

Tallaght Stadium

Damien Duff brings his Shelbourne side across the Liffey to take on the reigning Premier Division champions this Friday, looking to down the Hoops to the second defeat in consecutive league games.

In what will be the first league game between the sides in Tallaght in-front of fans since 2013, Shelbourne come into the game looking for revenge after Rovers stole all 3 points in Tolka Park earlier on in the season.

An early Andy Lyons goal had put Stephen Bradley's side in-front at Tolka Park, before Shane Farrell levelled for the hosts just after the break. It looked like the sides would share the spoils, until substitutes Danny Mandroiu & Aaron Greene linked up in the 89th minute, before the latter would sink Shels to defeat with a fantastic 20-yard finish beyond Brendan Clarke.

Shamrock Rovers come into Friday's Dublin Derby overlooking the rest of the league with a seven point margin to Derry City - despite falling to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Drogheda United on Monday night at Head In The Game Park. Meanwhile, Shelbourne head to Tallaght in fine form, looking for their fifth win on the bounce, adding to victories against Sligo, Drogheda, St. Pat's & most recently UCD.

After their fine run of form in recent weeks, Shels now find themselves in sixth position, just four points off the European places, and now 14 points clear of the relegation zone - and also have a game in hand on those around them.

Friday's Dublin Derby will see Rob Hennessy referee the game, with Robert Clarke & Wayne McDonnell as his linesmen, with Damien MacGraith operating the fourth-official duty.

Shamrock Rovers: Danny Mandroiu will serve a one-game suspension after receiving a red-card in Drogheda on Monday night. Jack Byrne picked up a knock against Drogheda United on Monday and will be assessed pre-game.

Shelbourne: Brian McManus returns to the match-day squad, after missing the last couple weeks through injury. Adam Thomas, Daniel Hawkins & Sean McSweeney all remain doubtful for tonight's game.
